Assemblage Art & Zenovia's Sacred Folk Art

I draw inspiration from the re-psychedelic glue artists of the 1960s in CA, ( later known as "Assemblage artists"); Assemblage Art; Mosaics, and Memory Ware. I like to describe my work as “my Greek Orthodox grandmothers home altars meet the era of psychedelic glue art”,  the results being spiritual in nature but light and joyful.
     

The candlelit shrines that I create are largely inspired by my grandmothers' and others' home altars honoring spirituality, gardens, music, nature, or various themes.

When candlelit, the shrines reflect and project dancing shadows especially in a darkened room and can be used as a focal point for prayer and meditation reminding  us to center ourselves, connect to source, and feel the delight and mystery in our everyday lives.
     

Common vintage objects such as vintage wooden sconces,  rolling pins and wooden spoons are preserved, sanctified, and transformed, being adorned with mirror, jewelry, icons, shells, stones, beads, vintage and re-cycled treasures along with newer ingredients... all a reminder of how the ordinary can be extraordinary, and that nourishment and inspiration come in many forms.
    

I give special thanks to my ancestors, my grandmothers, and to the late Lois Anderson who was a longtime friend, teacher, student, client, and one of several  60s era pioneering "glue" artists in CA, for inspiring me.

Blessed Clearing Mist:

Pure, therapeutic essential oils, water, gemstones, resins and intentions blended to use as an alternative to burning herbs and resins to bless yourself and others.

The therapeutic properties in the oils help to clear and refresh and decontaminate from illness, dis-ease, stale air, and bad juju. Use it as an insect repellent and to refresh closets, carpets, and linens.

Blessing Oil:

A varying blend of pure essential oils, holy oil, resins, crystals and intentions in a pure carrier oil. Anoint yourself or others to help ground, relax, center and be inspired.
